It started with a chair.
Urban Stylez opened its first barbershop in 2008, in the middle of the Great Recession. It wasn't an easy time to open a business, but the idea was simple: build a real barbershop around the craft, the people behind the chairs and the communities walking through the doors.
From that first shop, Urban Stylez continued to grow across Central Florida. Years later, the pandemic brought another defining challenge to the barber industry. Through shutdowns, uncertainty and everything that followed, Urban Stylez endured and continued moving forward.
Opened during a recession. Built through changing times. Still behind the chair.
Today, Urban Stylez has five barbershops serving Central Florida. The story has never been only about adding locations. It has been about building something that lasts while staying connected to what made the barbershop important in the first place.
Preserving the American barbershop tradition.
The classic American barbershop has always been more than a place to get a haircut. It has been a neighborhood gathering place built around craftsmanship, conversation and community.
That culture remains part of Urban Stylez today. The atmosphere carries pieces of traditional barbering while the work behind the chair continues to reflect the people, styles and communities we serve now.
Our goal isn't to recreate the past. It's to preserve what mattered about it — the chair, the service, the conversation, the craftsmanship and the relationship between a barber and the person sitting in front of them.
Barbering keeps moving.
The work behind the chair has never stood still. Different generations bring different styles, influences and expectations into the barbershop. Our responsibility is to keep learning with them.
Across Urban Stylez, our barbers work with different hair textures and a wide range of styles — from fades, tapers and beard grooming to traditional haircuts, straight-razor work, freestyle designs, kids cuts and the newer looks continuing to shape men's grooming and barbering today.
Traditional services and details remain part of the experience, while modern grooming, hot towels and massage allow the barbershop experience to continue evolving.
Not every barber cuts exactly the same, and we don't expect them to. Individual style has always been part of the craft. What matters is understanding the client, respecting their time and money, respecting the craft and taking pride in the finished work.
The history stays visible.
As Urban Stylez grew, so did our appreciation for the history of barbering. Antique barber chairs and pieces of old American barbershop history gradually became part of our shops. Some of those chairs were built generations before Urban Stylez ever existed.
We preserve them because the history of the barbershop deserves to remain visible. The craftsmanship, equipment and atmosphere connect today's barbers with generations of people who worked behind the chair before us.
But preserving barber history doesn't mean keeping barbering in the past.
You can sit in a chair built generations ago and get a haircut that belongs completely to the present.
That's an important distinction for Urban Stylez. The surroundings may carry history, but the work behind our chairs continues to evolve with today's clients, styles and culture.

Through every stage, the barbers have been the people who make Urban Stylez happen. Every barber brings something different to the chair — personality, experience, technique and their own relationship with the people they serve.
We value that individuality. At the same time, a barbershop works best when the people inside understand that they're part of something together.

Today, Urban Stylez serves Central Florida through barbershops in Downtown Orlando, the SoDo District, Winter Park, Kissimmee and Clermont.
Each location has its own barbers, clients and personality, but they're all part of the same Urban Stylez story.
From opening our doors during the Great Recession to navigating the pandemic and continuing to serve a changing Central Florida, we've learned that a barbershop survives by respecting where it came from without being afraid of where the craft is going.
The chairs carry the history. The barbers carry it forward.
